The honeybee series, engages several different mediums, including mixed media, photography, printmaking, and my first-ever foray into acrylics. I love the movement of the bees, and honey itself is something that is so textural. The plight of the honeybee is one that is being threatened, so I also wanted to lend a specific message with these pieces that we can do more to help them. Einstein was quoted as saying , "If the honeybees disappear from the surface of the earth, men would have about four years left to live." Here are five things you can do today to support honeybees. You can become a beekeeper, think outside the farm yard, try house hives on rooftops or in small back yards. Buy local honey and hive products, go native by choosing plants that produce both nectar and pollen. Reduce or eliminate your use of pesticides, and skip the mowing in the spring and enjoy.
