Janet Wickham
Janet Wickham is an award winning artist currently living in St. Charles, Illinois. Her medium of choice is Oil Stick - pure oil pigment solidified into stick form and shaped like a giant crayon. Because of her unique method of developing her paintings with her fingers, Janet playfully calls herself a "professional finger painter."
The subject of Janet's paintings is influenced by a lifetime of frequent moves to vastly different parts of the country. She will tell you that regardless of where she lived, "the moon, the sun and the stars remained constant, familiar companions". Today, the comfort Janet draws from that vision is artfully translated through her paintings. Her minimalistic, contemporary images capture a mysterious, contemplative mood through the use of striking value contrasts, dramatic blending techniques, and color temperature. All other elements in Janet's paintings appear to serve only one purpose - to be touched by the light cast upon them from the sky.
Janet's Bachelor of Arts from the University of West Florida is an interdisciplinary in art, music and philosophy with a minor in psychology. Skill enhancement includes advanced instruction at The Fine Line Arts Center in St. Charles, Illinois and customized Independent Study at her local community college. Janet has been showing her paintings since 2003 at juried fine art shows and invitational exhibits. Her work is owned by private and corporate collectors and represented by fine art galleries in Illinois and Wisconsin.
