Donna Sands
Color is what I see, and imagery has always been more important then words. How to convey these two elements to the viewer has been an exploration that has been on going. The use of color to express moods and emotions puts me in the group of color equivalent artists. A city dweller by birth, an escape to the county transforms my view to the horizon and beyond. The joy of being outdoors directed my decision to paint landscapes. I seek a place where I cannot hear man’s invasion. When I find this place, it is then that I can experience all five senses being filled. What I see and feel is what I paint.
After graduating from Northeastern Illinois University in 1979 with a Bachelors in Art Degree and receiving high honors in art, Donna worked in the commercial art field for 21 years, and for 12 years successfully ran her own design business.
Since graduating from college, Donna has continued to paint and started showing her work professionally in 1988. |
