In this new series I am exploring another one of my interests - winged creatures.
Active Meadow,  recreates the visual excitement and movement of awakening what is concealed in a prairie or grassland habitats. Butterflies and moths are frequently  mentioned in Native American myths, because of their beauty, power of flight and complete metamorphosis. Butterflies perform a vital role in our ecosystem since they  provide food for other creatures and act as pollinators.  All across the globe, the numbers of the butterfly / insect population has been slowly and steadily shrinking.  You can start to change this by raising your educational level on the subject.
 A first step is to start  your own or community butterfly garden using both nectar and larval food plants.  Today the butterfly is viewed as a symbol for personal growth and spiritual rebirth.
